Artists 2008

For four days (June 19th-22nd 2008), Como wants to become like Harlem in the first half of 1900. We are studying new ideas to make this festival the best ever. Find out below the artists who will be at the festival. More bands and artistis to be announced.

BANDS

  • Carling Family (Sweden)

    They are from Sweden and they are a family: mother, father, 2 son, 1 daughter and the older son's wife. They know how to play more then one instrument each: clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, violin, piano, drum, bass, banjo and trombone. They are amazing and the play authentic music from the Swing Craze.The band leader, Gunhild, is a genius. Right before the concert they entertain the audience with their unique show.
    They will play on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd. It is the very first time that they come in Italy to perform.

  • Tomelleri Big Band (Italy)

    Paolo Tomelleri is back in Como with his 18 musicians, after the great success he had last year. We are preparing a tribute to one of the greatest musicians of the Big Band Era. Paolo and his band will play on Saturday June 21st for the Savoy Battle of the Bands 70th Anniversary.

  • Big Band Connection (Switzerland)

    The Winterthur-based Big Band Connection was founded in April 2000 in its original formation of 17 instrumentalists. Under the direction of Bernhard Schoch and complemented by highly expressive vocalist Sonja Morgenegg, the talented musicians play a groovy Big Band swing. The 19-member formation sets high standards of precision and authenticity. Let yourself be carried away by the magic of the Big Band sound and enjoy a musical journey through time.

    Steven Mitchell will sing at the Swing Crash. Something very new and we wanted to be one of the first event to host Steven in something new. Absolutely something to do not miss!

 The Record Hop is in the hands of international Deejays. They will be chosen according to the playlists they sent to us. We will announce their names as soon as possible.

Special guest

Steven Mitchell

The entire dancing world knows him as the amazing dancer who brought Frankie Manning back into professional dancing. At the Swing Crash we will have Steven Mitchell not only as a dance instructor, but as well as singer.
We will post his biography as soon as possible.
