The Savoy Battle of the Band: 70th Anniversary
Tribute to the January 16th 1938 concert at the Savoy Ballroom. Back then Count Basie played versus Chick Webb in one of the most wonderful battle of the band that music history can remember. Two amazing swinging bands, but also many Lindy hoppers hungry of good music to swing out on. In Como we will have the Tomelleri Big Band vs. Big Band Connection. 40 musicians on stage to swing in an authentic battle with Basie and Webb tunes.
The World Dance Battle Championship
The battle is back. A dance gang vs. another in a real street style. A minimum of 4 people per team. Everything is allowed. We will play swing tunes, but any kind of dance is allowed. A team vs. the other in a knock out jam session until we will have only one gang standing. The only rule is that there are no rules. Last year videos posted on Youtube have been clicked by thousands of people.
The Show
Every year we organize a new show. In the first edition we hosted to Harlem Hot Shots and in the second one Vincenzo Fesi directed a show with all the instructior of the Dance Camp and the Carling Family.
In the 2008 edition, we will try to reproduce an original show just like in the good old days. Just like the shows at the Cotton Club in the late 30s.
We will have many artists and different type of dances. Special guest of the night the show troupe Tutti Frutti with their new show in a world wide premier. The show will be directed by Vincenzo Fesi.
All Nite Long
The after hour party will be organized at 2Bed Club in Como.
In the previous edition we have had a lot of people. In order to guarantee a place to all the people who are interested in the event we will reserve a place for all the dancers registered at the Dance Camp. So, if you are taking the classes, the bracelett we will give you is going to work as a Pass for the parties. If you are not part of the Dance Camp we suggest to send an email at info@swingcrashfestival.com, with object "all nite long", asking to be added to the after hour party list. You want to write your name and when you are planning to be there.
This list is made to guarantee a place to all the people who are really interested in the after hour party and in the festival in case it will rain.
