The World Dance Battle Championship
The battle is back. Inspired by a jam circle in Herrang back in 2003, Angela Andrew was the first one to organize a dance battle in Hackney, London. We were the first one to bring the format down in Italy.
Many “gangs” from all over Europe and the world have already signed up, including a first time entry from Australia! Previous World Dance Battle video clips have been posted on youtube and viewed by thousands of people, and the competition is gaining worldwide prestige.
The competition format is very simple:
- The battle is a knock out tournament, consisting of duels between pairs of gangs, with the winner advancing.
- In order to register your “gang”, you need a minimum of 4 people, or more, with no restriction on the gender of gang members, i.e. 1 man and 3 women, 1 woman and 3 men, 2 couples, etc.
- A maximum of 2 songs are going to be played in each round.
- Music will be mostly swing format, and the round consists of teams alternating every half chorus in a jam circle style.
- All members do not have to participate in every half chorus, e.g. one person can dance 4 bars and a couple can dance 4 bars. Basically, you can do whatever you want in your half chorus, even dance different styles that are not necessarily swing.
- There will be only one winner: every round is like a final. Don’t let anybody knock you out, and you’ll win!
The Show
Every year we organize a new show. In the first edition we hosted the
Harlem Hot Shots for the very 1st time in Italy. In the second and the third one Vincenzo Fesi directed a show
with professional dancers and the Carling Family.
Last year, every single tune of the show has been played by the NP Big Band. Live music
for an outstanding show.
This year, for our 5th Anniversary we will...Well, maybe it's too early to announce it.

"All Nite Long"
In the previous edition we had a lot of people.
Last year, the after hour party was a real blast: live bands, jam circles, contest, shows, food, drinks and a lot of social dancing.
This year we are trying to have more space and we might be able to open an extra room.
